There are various health considerations related to different treatments that need to be considered before any treatment can take place, some minor factors can be worked around but some will require medical treatment or approval. All treatments and health factors are broken down into sections for you to easily determine which treatment is suitable for you.

If you are unsure or would like any advice in deciding if a treatment is suitable please do not hesitate to contact one of the Temple Beauty Team and they will be happy do advise.

 

Massage

Massage can be carried out but should be avoided over areas affected by:

* Skin diseases
* Undiagnosed lumps or bumps
* Varicose veins
* Cuts, bruises, abrasions, & inflammation
* Scar tissue- 2 years for major operations- 6 months for minor scar
* Sun burn
* Menstruation on abdomen for first few days

If you have any of the following massage cannot be carried out:

* Fever
* Contagious or infectious diseases
* Cancer unless in terminal stages & then with medical permission
* Under the influence of drugs or alcohol

If you suffer with any of the following conditions massage can only be carried out once it has been approved by a G.P:

* Cardiovascular conditions- Thrombosis, Phlebitis, High or Low blood pressure, Heart conditions
* Medical oedema
* Acute rheumatism
* Arthritis
* Nervous / Psychotic conditions
* Epilepsy
* Recent Operations
* Diabetes
* Asthma – in severe cases
* Bells palsy
* Inflamed Nerve
* Osteoporosis

Facials

If you have any of these conditions you will need to see your GP for treatment before treatment can be carried out:

* Bacterial, eg impetigo
* Viral, eg herpes simplex
* Fungal, eg tinea
* Conjunctivitis

If you have any of these conditions a consultation will be needed to determine if treatment is possible:

* Recent scar tissue
* Eczema
* Allergies
* Cuts, abrasions & bruising
* Vitiligo
* Sties

 

Waxing

Waxing should not be carried out if there is evidence of skin disease or infection in the area to be treated i.e.

* Chin or lip wax- herpes simplex
* Eye brows- conjunctivitis

Waxing cannot be carried out if these conditions are present in the area to be treated:

* Legs- varicose veins,
* Very thin or loose skin,
* Oedema
* Underarms- mastitis, mastectomy (if within 6 months) 
* Sunburn
* Recent scar tissue
* Cuts, abrasions, open sores
* Hairy moles or raised lesions such as warts
* Hypersensitivity
* Inflammation or swelling

 

Hands & Feet

If you have any of these conditions you will need to see your GP before treatment can be carried out.

* Ringworm
* Warts & veruccas
* Whitlow
* Athletes foot
* Open wounds

If you have any of these conditions a consultation is needed to determine if treatment is suitable.

* Eczema
* Psoriasis
* Onycholysis
* Chill blains
* In growing toe nails
* Corns
* Bunions
* Arthritis

 

Eye Treatments

Treatment cannot be carried out if you have any of the following.

* Conjunctivitis
* Inflammation / swelling in eye area
* Cuts or abrasions in eye area
* Bruised / black eye
* Sties
* Reaction to patch test (eye lash/brow tint)
